General Information

Faculty of Education used to be a primary school for girls between 1967-1976. In 1976-77 academic year, it joined with the Faculty of Education as the Institute of Education offering 2 year programmes. In 1982, with the Executive Order 41 that entered into force, it became a part of Dicle University Faculty of Education, and renamed as Siirt Education Higher School. The purpose of this School was to produce primary school teachers. After the academic year 1989-1990, the School started to offer 4 year Bachelor’s Degree programmes. On 03.07.1992, after the Law 3837 entered into force, it was renamed as Siirt Faculty of Education. On 17.01.1996, the Faculty of Education started to offer the Classroom Teaching programme evening classes. Also, Elementary Mathematics evening classes started to be offered along with the Social Sciences Education programme. Finally, on 29.05.2007, our Faculty joined with Siirt University and became Siirt University Faculty of Education.
